Namyalo Donates Ramadan Relief to Kitalya Inmates
Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, ONC Manager, delivered Ramadan relief to Muslim inmates at Kitalya Mini Max Prison and pledged to petition President Museveni for clemency for those demonstrating good conduct and rehabilitation.

The Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, has donated assorted food items to Muslim inmates at Kitalya Mini Max Prison during the holy month of Ramadan and promised to petition President Museveni for clemency for qualifying prisoners.

During her Wednesday outreach, Namyalo said she would appeal for pardons for inmates who have served long periods, completed their sentences, and shown discipline and commitment to rehabilitation.

“We shall request His Excellency to consider pardoning those who have been here for many years, completed their punishment, and shown discipline and reform,” she said, emphasizing that clemency should only extend to inmates who meet legal criteria and have genuinely transformed.

She encouraged inmates to use Ramadan as a period for reflection, patience, self-discipline, and preparation for reintegration into society.

Namyalo also cautioned young people against criminal behavior, warning that prison life is harsh and should not be trivialized.

The delegation was received by Superintendent Walangalira Hassan, Officer in Charge at Kitalya, who welcomed the initiative and commended the ONC for its support.

Uganda Prisons Service officials noted that the relief items would ease the burden on fasting inmates and boost morale.

Namyalo praised the facility’s ongoing welfare and rehabilitation programs and pledged to work with authorities to address resource gaps where additional support is needed.

The outreach reflects ONC’s nationwide engagement during Ramadan while highlighting calls for executive clemency for inmates prepared for reintegration into society.
